          FREQUENTLY ASKED    QUESTIONS

How long will I take the medicine?

The duration will depend on several factors: the state of your immune system, the presence of opportunistic infection/s, the presence and persistence of dormant viuses, adherence to the regimen, how the patient takes care of him/herself, etc.

We have documented people sero-reversing from 3 months to seven years.

Can I take it with ARVs?

Yes, but patients on arvs need to be weaned off arvs slowly to allow dormant viruses to replicate and be destroyed.  The weaning process is done slowly to prevent deterioration of the patient.  If you are on arvs, do not stop.

Moreover, the herbal remedy does not seem to interact with arvs but patients are advised to take them one to two hours before or after any medication.

What are the side-effects?

In most patients, there are hardly any.  The most annoying is itchy rashes that can be relieved by antihistamines (anti-allergy medications) or by decreasing the dose.  Also, in most cases, the itchy rashes go away on their own.

In a patient with kidney problems, the serum creatinine can go up.  The problem is reversible and can be solved by decreasing the dose.
